A remarkable survivor from the late 1700s to early 1800s—a French waistcoat in luminous silk velvet, alive with rich tones of orange-red, golden yellow, blue, and black. This piece speaks to an era when clothing was both art and statement, made to last and to be admired.

It’s double-breasted in style, featuring a short stand collar and delicate covered buttons, each embroidered by hand. Two front pockets sit neatly at the hip, their edges softly worn from use.
