Early 1930s French cotton workwear jacket in a fine herringbone weave. A lightweight cotton with extensive patina and rust speckling throughout. The top left pocket is missing, leaving the shadow of its original placement, and the top right pocket appears to have been moved. All pockets show darker areas suggesting they were once larger or had flaps.
The right sleeve has a slit that requires mending. The inside of the cuffs has been reinforced by hand with a band of cotton tape. There are many hand-sewn repairs around the collar, and the jacket fastens with three buttons at the front. A shaped band at the back adds subtle structure to the fit. A rare example with remarkable texture and age.
