1950s French Opera Costume Coat in Pink Wool and Blue Velvet

This incredible 1950s French opera frock coat is full of character. Made from soft pink wool with bold blue velvet cuffs and buttons, it was designed to be seen from the stage. Black ribbon trim adds a sharp contrast, outlining the hem, cuffs, and faux pocket flaps with playful flourish. The cuffs are especially striking — sculptural and dramatic, with a glossy wave appliqué that catches the light.

It’s unlined at the front so it wears open, with lightly padded shoulders giving it structure. Originally made for performance, it fits a UK women’s 12 / US 8 well, but do check the measurements.

Condition:

In lovely vintage condition. A few small moth holes, one faded patch on the right shoulder/chest, and a light mark on the top of the left shoulder. Clean and ready to wear or display.
