Antique 19th Century French Costume Vest Indigo Applique Sequin Silk Velvet Theatre

Beautiful late 19th century French theatre costume vest. Silk velvet corduroy upper front panel with plain silk velvet lower panel. Appliqué block print indigo leafs. Golden metal sequin. Fasten up the back with metal hook and eyes. Pointed dipped hem at the front.

Great for inspiration and to treasure. Maybe too delicate to wear unless for a photo shoot. 

Measures: 16” underarm to underarm, 12” across the shoulders, 5 /2” from top of shoulder to waist

Condition: this has been hand washed with a gentle detergent and cool water. There are rips and holes in the velvet corduroy on the front. Missing velvet fabric on the lower front panel. Missing sequins. The back is quite trashed with many rips and holes. The interior lining is a study linen on both sides.
