Elegant black wool coat dating to the early 1900s, made by Belle Jardinière, Paris.
The coat features a distinctive black and white woven cotton striped trim at the collar and hem, and is finished with silk-covered buttons. Double-breasted fastening at the front and decorative double rows of buttons at the back. Shaped seams through the body give a tailored silhouette. Fully lined.

Belle Jardinière was one of the earliest French ready-to-wear houses, founded in Paris in the 1820s. Known for their refined tailoring and quality materials, they were a major influence on the development of modern menswear and were renowned for their elegant coats and suits throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Condition:
Dry-cleaned. One button missing at the front. Some buttonholes show fraying and wear. A few small moth nibbles and two small holes on the left sleeve near the cuff. The lining shows wear consistent with age.
