Antique c.1910s made French opera costume. Renaissance style lightweight brown wool tunic. Puff sleeves. Fastens up the front with textured covered buttons. Cuffs fasten with small metal hook and eye. Lined in cotton. Made by Aristide Boyer, Marseille. Costumier stamp in the lining. Appears to be all hand stitched.
A wearable treasure! Great work over trousers or with long boots.
Measures: 18 1/2” underarm to underarm, 16” across the waist, 16 1/2” across the shoulders, 22” sleeves, 20” from neck to waist, 42” from neck to hem.
Condition: freshly laundered. There are a few small holes here in there in the wool. There is an L shaped darned repair on the back of the skirt section. The centre lower waistband needs some stitches as the seam joins have come unstitched.
