c.1910s French Theatre Jacket | Aristide Boyer, Marseille | 18th Century Frock Coat Style | Gold Embroidery & Lace Cuffs
A rare and exquisite antique French costume jacket from the early 1910s, designed in a dramatic 18th-century frock coat style. This piece was created by the renowned Aristide Boyer costume house in Marseille, known for producing garments for opera, theatre, and stage performance across France.
Made from a beautifully textured peach cotton, the jacket features wide turn-back cuffs with lace trim, decorative pocket flaps, and ornate gold metallic thread embroidery throughout. The front and cuffs are finished with bold gold-tone metal buttons, designed for stage impact. It’s fully lined—grey cotton in the bodice, yellow cotton sateen in the lower half—with the original Aristide Boyer Marseille costumier’s stamp inside.
