Early 1900s French Theatre Opera Costume Tunic Top Brown Gold Metal Thread Scalloped Feathers Scales

Early 1900s French tunic made for opera or theatre costume by costume or Aristide Boyer, Marseille. Brown cotton woven with golden metal thread to create a scalloped pattern which is reminiscent of feathers or scales. Buttons up the back. Fully lined. Lightly padded in the upper body.Appears to be all hand stitched. 

I was lucky enough to find more than one from this costume series. 

Measures: 18 1/2” underarm to underarm, 16” across the shoulders, 29” long in the body

Great condition overall. Freshly laundered. Approx 5” of seam at the back has come unstitched: just needs some stitches to rejoin it.
