Royal Opera House Costume Wool Doublet Tunic Top Jacket Medieval Renaissance Slash Puff
This is a costume made for Royal Opera house, London most probably in the early 2000s. The last time it was used was for a production of Don Carlos. The label gives more precise information. Wool with a cotton lining. Synthetic fabric inside as a puff effect through the slashes. Synthetic fabric trims on the cuffs. At some point a panel of wool fabric has been added to each side of the front. The domed golden buttons are decorative. It fastens just at the neck with three metal hook at eyes.
Measurements: 19 1/2” underarm to underarm, 16 1/2” shoulders, 22” sleeves not including the trim, 21” long from neck to longest point at the front
Condition: freshly laundered. There are some loose threads. Some gold missing in the buttons. The shoses shoulder pieces are stitched in but some of the stitches are a a little loose so need strengthening for longevity.
