Stunning and rare c.1920s French opera or theatre costume tunic in an Oriental-inspired style. The body is made from blue grosgrain silk, backed with a sturdy linen layer and lined with cotton. The upper sleeves feature dark orange appliqué panels edged with gold ribbon, while the lower sleeves and shoulders are finished with gold lamé appliqué and metallic ribbon trim. Fastens up the back with hidden buttons. A dramatic and beautifully constructed piece, custom made for opera or theatre.

• Large hole on the upper front (see photos)
• Surface scuffs on the lower right front
• Small holes: one on the back shoulder, one on the upper right sleeve
• Some orange appliqué is coming unstitched at the edges
• A few holes in the blue silk lining
