Antique French Theatre Costume Renaissance Style Pink Silk Brown Velvet Slash Puff Tunic Jacket Hose Shorts

Antique early 1900s French theatre costume in Renaissance style. Two-piece: tunic and shorts. Really delightful. Pink and ivory silk sleeves and shorts. Brown silk velvet jacket with open sleeves which have a pink silk lining and within which sit the inner pink silk sleeves. Slash and puff motifs on the front and inner sleeves. Woven gold metal ribbon trim. Shorts button at the fly and fasten at the waist. They are lightly padded with a quilted cotton lining. Jacket fastens with metal hook and rings and is lined in black quilted and lightly padded cotton.  

Such a delightful treasure which has been beautifully made. 

Jacket measures: 32” chest (16” underarm to underarm), 27” waist, 14” across the shoulders. Pink inner sleeves are 20 1/2” long, brown outer sleeves are 31” long, 20” long in the body.

Shorts measure: 25” waist, 11” rise, 12 1/2” long 

Condition: really great overall. There are some rips and tears to the ivory silk puffs on the jacket and also some brown discolouration here too. The shorts have some shredded silk at the crotch area as shown.
