1910s Crusades Dress French Opera Costume Black Wool Maltese Cross Antique Theatre

C.1910s French Opera costume. Crusades style with the Maltese cross. Black wool. Upper half is lined with linen and has the original stamps from the theatre costumier. Buttons up the back.

A very striking and unique piece.

Measurements taken when flat: 19” underarm to underarm, 16” across the shoulders, 17” across the waist, 8” from shoulder to underarm, 49” long from top of neck to hem.

Condition: freshly laundered. The seam on the back of the arm has come unstitched a bit as shown. There are two holes which I noticed on the skirt section. I’m at the upper front and one nearer the hem. Both not too noticeable nor large and they could be easily darned. When held to bright sunlight I can see more very small holes in the skirt which could be sewn. It remains strong and very wearable.
