1920s French Pink and Silver Lamé Metal Woven Ribbons Flowers Thread Costume Tunic Theatre Opera Renaissance Style

1920s French theatre or opera costume. Made in a Renaissance style. Such gorgeous woven pink and silver lamé fabric: scrolling ribbons interspersed with flowers. silver lamé bib insert which fastens with metal poppers. The lower hem has a wide band of silver lame applied. This ribbon is framed either side with another silver lame with ribbon interspersed with three shades of pink silk threads given a chequered appearance. This pink and silver chequered ribbon is also trimming the sleeves. The main front fastens with large hook and eyes. Gauzy cotton ruffle collar. Lined in cotton.

Measurements: 19 inches underarm two underarm, 17 inches across the shoulders, 37 inches long in the body.


Condition: freshly laundered with cool water and a gentle detergent by hand. Both underarms seam needs stitching closed and there are some small holes here too. There are two holes as shown on the lower front and a gutter one a little lower at the edge seam. There are also some small stains as shown. This would have had long inner sleeves but they have bee removed.
