Stunning c.1930s tunic dress in made for French opera costume. Created by the great and revered designer Henri Lebrun ( I have found another piece from this same collection which has a label). Lebrun made costumes for theatre and opera in France before moving to Hollywood where he made costumes for film: Swords of Blood (1962), Don Juan (1956).

Grosgrain black fabric lined with white embroidery and soutache design with pink silk trim. Fastens up the back with metal hook and eyes. Deep side slits. Lovely wide sleeves.

Measures: 17” underarm to underarm, 14” across the waist, 18” shoulders, 51” long

Great condition overall. This has been washed in cool water with a gentle detergent. There is damage along the edge of the pink silk panel which runs down the front. Most of this whole length has been reinforced with stitches to strengthen but there remain tears at the edges. One metal hook missing the back.
