1930s French Opera Costume Dress Pink Silk Black Grosgrain Henri Lebrun Chinese Style Theatre

Stunning c.1930s tunic dress in made for French opera costume. Created by the great and revered designer Henri Lebrun ( I have found another piece from this same collection which has a label). Lebrun made costumes for theatre and opera in France before moving to Hollywood where he made costumes for film: Swords of Blood (1962), Don Juan (1956).

Grosgrain pink fabric lined with white embroidery and soutache design and black silk trim. Fastens up the back with metal hook and eyes. Deep side slits. Lovely wide sleeves.

Measures: 19 1/2” underarm to underarm, 15” across the waist, 18” shoulders, 47” long

Great condition overall. This has been washed in cool water with a gentle detergent. There is - split seam down the lower front middle. Some metal hook and eyes missing at the back.
