C.1930s Slovakian Indigo linen block print skirt. Floral yellow and green print motifs. This is a piece of traditional folk clothing and would have had a small apron worn over the front. Pleated at the back. There is a front panel of rustic woven linen which has a long
opening.

The fabric is just amazing and a real treasured example of folk craft.

Measures: 26” waist, 30” long

Great condition. There are no fastenings on this skirt so you would need to add something at the waist. The natural linen front panel has stains and further marks on the band of cotton linen which edges the hem on the inside.

The traditional way to wash these skirts is to put inside some tights and tie the end. This keep the pleats in place. I’ve tried this and it mainly works really well, although the pleats will not be perfect.

This will be sent carefully folded in half, to fit in a box and therefore it will need a be reshaped a little and hung.
