1930s Slovakian Indigo linen block print pleated skirt

C.1930s Slovakian indigo print skirt. Hand printed using the old style hand carved wooden blocks. Then wax resist dyed in a large vat of beautiful rich indigo dye. This technique is now UNESCO registered. The front panel is cotton and just ties simply with a rustic indigo fragment tie. An apron would have been worn over this cotton panel.

Measurements taken when flat: 16" across the waist (double for full size), 38" long

Great condition. This has not been laundered. I think if it's washed with water the pleats would come out. The traditional way to wash it is to tie the pleats in multiple places and keep them in place and give it a bath in cool gently soaped water.
