Antique 1910s French Opera Costume Renaissance Style Black Velvet Blue Silk Fold Metal Ribbon Trim Lamé

Incredible antique c.1910s French opera costume tunic. Renaissance style. Black velvet with a gold lamé wide revere collar. The sleeves are amazing with slash effect velvet strip panels edged with woven gold ribbon trim. The inner slices are peacock blue silk. Gauzy cotton trim cuffs. Domed gold metal buttons up the front and on the cuffs. Further buttons are dark and covered in the lower front. This opens out completely to put in like a jacket. Fully lined. Costumier stamp for Aristide Boyer, Marseille on the lining.

And wonderful and rare treasure.

Measures: 19” underarm to underarm, 19” across the shoulders, 24” sleeves, 42” long from neck to hem.

Condition: overall really great. This has been hand washed with cold water and a gentle detergent. There is a patched repair on the front as shown. There are also a few areas with surface wear as shown. Some small areas of the gold ribbon Tim at the hem needs stitching back in place. There is some blue colour bleed on the white gauzy cuffs.
