Antique French Black Silk Two Piece Outfit Costume Bodice Skirt Bows 19th Century

Late 19th century French black silk two piece outfit. Long line fitted bodice jacket and bustle back shaped skirt with decorative bows. Lovely details. The jacket has two front pockets with decorative covered buttons. The sleeves also have decorative buttons up the sides. There is boning (three) down the back of the jacket). Lace trim on the collar and cuffs. The skirt is ruched at the back ready for a bustle petticoat. Lower section of the skirt is lined with brown glazed cotton.

Jacket measures: 16” underarm seam to seam, 15 1/2” across the shoulders, 7” arm opening from shoulder to underarm, 20 1/2” sleeve (not including the lace trim), 13” across the waist, 31” long from the top of the neck to the hem.

Skirt measures: 12” across the waist (24” full circumference), 28 1/2” long at the front, approx 40” long at the back bit this would be taken up higher with an underskirt. 22” across the hips area.

Condition: the collar has wear to the back as shown. There is a button missing on the jacket. One small hole on the lower back section. Lining and boning is in good order. There is damage to the tail of the skirt with some thinning and tears. Overall good condition.
