Antique French Theatre Costume Jacket Cotton Wool Magenta Trim Embossed Metal Buttons 18th Century Style Frock Coat

Antique c.1900 French theatre costume tunic. The fabric seems to be a cotton and wool blend twill. Magenta woven ribbon trim. Embossed metal buttons with ring backs. False pockets just for the style. Wide turn back cuffs. An amazing piece of very wearable costume.

Measurements taken when laid flat: 18” underarm to underarm, 16” shoulders, 15 1/2” across the waist. 23” sleeves, 28” long in the body.

Great condition overall. There are some slight stains on the lower back which seems to be from a liquid. One of the magenta embellishments has come unstitched at the front so this just needs simply securing. It has been washed gently at 30 degrees and lightly steamed.
